Description
The steering wheel spacer is a kit that improves the driving position, giving a surprising effect on driving pleasure.
Our steering wheel spacer brings the OEM steering wheel 2″ (5 cm) closer to the driver, allowing to move the seat backwards furthermore. This leads to more room for the legs and better modulation on pedals while holding the steering wheel naturally, without overstretched arms.

Until now, to bring closer to the driver the steering wheel of a vehicle that does not have depth adjustment from factory, you could only remove the OEM steering wheel and replace it with an aftermarket one, and its specific version of steering wheel hub: 2 parts to buy at a total cost of over 300€ if brand new and quality.
Until the early 1990s, this was a good solution, but since steering wheels have airbags and steering wheel controls, installing an aftermarket steering wheel implies to cancel these accessories: un unacceptable compromise.
With the Spacershop steering wheel spacer, this is no longer necessary: you can bring the car’s OEM steering wheel closer and keep the airbag and steering wheel controls active.
Why add a spacer if the car already have the depth adjustment?
Many cars already have the steering wheel depth adjustment from factory. So, why add a spacer to bring the spacer closer furthermore?
This is a common and legit question and it surprised us manufacturers as well: we invented the spacer for a car without that option, because we were coming from a car WITH it and we were MISSING it. If our car was already equipped with the depth adjustment steering column, maybe our invention would have never seen the sunlight.
The answer is simple: for many people the available telescopic adjustment is just not enough. Plus, the steering wheel spacer is not just a comfort luxury device which you can renounce to: it’s a complete, unexpected, underrated game changer in driving pleasure, in a way that it is even a bit difficult to tell if you don’t try it yourself.
After a couple of years running this activity, the 90% of our steering wheel spacers is destinated to cars ALREADY EQUIPPED with the depth adjustment of the steering wheel because lots of people feels it’s not enough despite not being extra tall, and wants to add those magic 5 cm (2″).
Sport car made to be driven will benefit these from the steering wheel spacer:
- car’s handling feels improved
- driver feels more connected to the car
- being more far from the dashboard, seems to be in a bigger car and kinda seated on the rear wheels
- better modulation on pedals, heel and toe and left foot braking can be performed easier
- during track driving, no more helmet hitting the headliner and accidental stumbling on the stalks and wipers levers
How to install a steering wheel spacer
The steering wheel spacer has to be installed between the steering wheel and the steering column, this is a pretty easy operation:
- remove the steering wheel
- insert the spacer on the steering column shaft
- put the steering wheel on the spacer’s shaft (which replicates the steering column)
