Aluminumsteering wheel for BMWs from 1 Series to 4 Series with ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and DKG dual clutch.
This kit is used by those who remove the standard steering wheel to install a goblet steering wheel, on track day or racing cars.
The standard steering wheel has sequential paddles, and when you take it off, you need to replace them.
Our steering wheel gearbox is completely built in aluminum machined from solid on CNC machines. Even the smallest hidden components are made of aluminum. Everything has been thought out from the outset with attention to lightness and ergonomics.
In the crescent blades, the + and - symbols are hollowed out of the aluminum, and contain a double groove to lighten them even more and to improve grip on the fingers.
They are mounted with 2 screws on the respective rockers, in which 2 slots have been dug that have the dual function of lightening and allowing the adjustment of the distance of the blades from the center. This is to precisely adapt to the shape and length of your fingers.
The paddles can be screwed on either side of the rockers, to adjust the distance to the steering wheel and fit your hands and driving preferences even better.
The aluminum-aluminum contact is what makes the shifting feel mechanical, together with the magnets embedded in the structure that work like springs.
The magnets can be changed to give greater resistance to pressure and give a harder or softer feeling of the shifting, according to your taste.
Inside the load-bearing structure of the gearbox is hidden the electronic part that guarantees its operation. The levers operate 2 microswitches, connected to a wiring harness that replicates the original electronics. Everything converges to an original BMW 2-pin connector , so as to ensure an immediate connection with the seat that comes out of the machine, without the need for welding, adaptations or coding.
The steering wheel gearbox is supplied pre-assembled and already with the wiring harness that interfaces with the original connector coming from the machine.
Our kit is designed to be coupled to all aftermarket steering wheels and steering wheel hubs on the market.
Installation can be done by anyone and takes no more than half an hour. There are assembly instructions, which you can download from this page.
The kit is designed and manufactured in Italy.
The gearbox mounts on all versions of BMW with the DCT and ZF8 steering wheel gearbox
So: BMW M2 M3 M4, M135i M140i M235i M240i
Not everyone likes the SMG gearbox, because the car enthusiast usually does not like the automatic transmission, and because the SMG gearbox is considered slow and inadequate for the nature of the car.
Not for us. We like the SMG gearbox: it's very comfortable in the city and effective on the track.
We have improved the shifting feel and the aesthetic aspect: our steering wheel gearbox is made of machined aluminum from solid.
The crescent blades are unloaded to improve grip on your fingers, and the + and - symbols are hollowed out of the aluminum, they are also adjustable to fit your hands precisely.
The aluminium-to-aluminium contact is what makes the mechanical feeling of shifting, combined with the magnets embedded in the structure that work as return springs. The magnets can be changed to vary the drive hardness.
The gearbox is fitted to all BMWs with the SMG 1 and 2 steering wheel gearbox: M3 E36 Smg, Bmw M3 E46 Smg, Bmw Z4 M Smg.
This adapter is used to mount the M-performance steering wheel of the BMW 1, 2, 3 and 4 F20 F30 F80 series on the BMW 5, 6 and 7 series, which have a different steering column attachment and for which it is rarer, more difficult and expensive to find a used M-performance steering wheel.
The BMWs on which our adapter mounts are the 5 Series F07 F10 and F11, 6 Series F06 F12 and F13, 7 Series F01 F02 F04
It also improves the driving position because it also acts as a spacer, and after assembly all the adjustments already present remain unchanged and working , even the depth one, as well as all the steering wheel controls and the paddles of the automatic gearbox if present.
You have to buy the steering wheel separately. If you don't know which one is right, write to us.
Steering wheel spacer for BMW 1 Series F20 and F21, 3 and 5 doors.
The steering wheel spacer is a kit that improves the driving position.
The driving position is important: an experienced driver immediately senses when a car hasperfect ergonomics and when it lacks something. There is the same difference that passes between a pair of comfortable, well-made shoes and others of poor quality.
In addition, even if the standard adjustments are many and satisfy most riders , they may not cover 100% all the physical variabilities of people. Some people are very tall, or some have long legs and short arms, and all of this is reflected in the feeling of comfort and control of the car when sitting behind the wheel. It can also become a compelling need.
The spacer was designed on a 2016 M135i purchased new from us and used for 80,000 km in the following 2 years.
All steering wheel controls remain functional, even the paddle shifters (our M135i had the 8-speed ZF) and, if present, the heating of the crown.
The driving position, already excellent on recent BMWs, is further improved.

The assembly of the spacer is simple and reversible, in case you want to disassemble from the car everything goes back to the way it was before.

The driving position is important, when you find the right one you enjoy the car much more. It becomes more comfortable and more pleasant to drive.
BMWs already have a lot of adjustments for the steering wheel, yet just driving our M135 we realized that we could still improve a lot.
The spacer was designed on a 2016 M135i purchased new from us and used for the 80,000 km traveled in the following 2 years.
It fits on all BMWs of the years 2010-2020 series 1, 2, 3 and 4 because they share the steering wheels.
In particular, it mounts on the 3 series F30, F31, F32 and M3 F80.
It is suitable for all engines and gearbox types: manual, ZF and DKG.
All steering wheel controls remain functional, even the paddle shifters (our M135i had the 8-speed ZF) and, if present, the heating of the crown.
The driving position, already excellent on recent BMWs, is further improved.
The Alcantara version has an extra cost.
